Job Title Lead Buyer Company Fleet Management Training Institute Philippines, Inc (Fleet Management Limited) Location Quezon City, National Capital Region, Philippines Employment Type Full‑time Seniority Level Mid‑Senior level Job Function Purchasing, Strategy/Planning, and Supply Chain Summary The Lead Buyer is responsible for supervising a team of Buyers/Senior Buyers, providing daily support and training, and ensuring the effective procurement of goods and services for assigned pod vessels. Responsibilities Spearhead the procurement strategy for assigned pod vessels, ensuring seamless operations through effective supervision. Collect and document technical information from pod vessels, workshops, and vendors to support operational planning. Manage timely invoice clearance and pre‑payment remittances within assigned PODs, maintaining strong supplier relationships. Monitor compliance with cost and requisition requirements, upholding the company’s financial standards. Assist buyers by guiding the coordination of quotations, vendor selection, and logistical connections to secure best value. Provide oversight on weekly reports of overdue invoices, ensuring timely clearance and improved cash flow. Establish a group‑specific comprehensive vendor list for frequently used spares and services, optimizing the supply chain. Serve as an escalation point for urgent operational support, leveraging technical expertise to resolve issues. Manage and mentor a team of Buyers, inspiring collaboration and aligning efforts to achieve shared goals. Implement new procedures and processes to foster continuous improvement. Lead the training of buyers and senior buyers on Office 365 and procurement systems, emphasizing complete documentation. Assess training needs of assigned pods and communicate findings to the Senior Lead Buyer. Conduct annual performance reviews and develop tailored professional development plans for team members. Monitor team attendance and proactively address resource shortages, ensuring operational continuity. Facilitate weekly meetings with technical teams, promoting effective communication and cross‑functional coordination. Act as a trusted escalation point for technical teams to resolve buyer‑related or supply‑chain‑specific issues. Qualifications Degree holder (Bachelor’s) with minimum 3+ years of work experience in the maritime industry as Buyer or Senior Buyer. Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience (or Diploma) as Buyer or Senior Buyer. Strong prior experience in people management. Desirable Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Fluent in written and spoken English (must). Supervisory skills and ability to lead a team. Strong team player with a positive working attitude. Willingness to learn new IT systems and drive change.
