SUMMARY We’re seeking an experienced systems engineer to join our team, focusing on the core data center and cloud platforms that support clients in the fast-paced financial services industry. This role is hands-on and engineering-focused not a simple administration position. You will take on complex challenges across virtualization, storage, and infrastructure performance, helping ensure our platforms remain resilient, scalable, and high performing. As a senior member of the team, you’ll strengthen our technical foundation and directly support the stability and reliability of critical systems that power our clients’ operations. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and Support Virtualization Platforms: Oversee and optimize enterprise virtualization environments, including VMware, Proxmox, and RedHat OpenShift, ensuring availability, performance, and security. Administer and Enhance Storage Systems: Manage enterprise storage solutions such as Pure Storage and HPE, including capacity planning, performance tuning, replication, and backup/recovery processes. Maintain Core Infrastructure: Ensure the reliability and efficiency of multi-tenant environments and associate cloud workloads in Microsoft Azure. Monitor and Optimize: Proactively monitor system performance using CheckMK (or similar tools), implement improvements, and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks. Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Serve as an escalation point for complex technical problems, performing in-depth root cause analysis and driving long-term remediation. Collaborate and Innovate: Work closely with fellow engineers to share expertise, refine processes, and evaluate emerging technologies that enhance virtualization, storage, and infrastructure performance. Provide Critical Support: Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide after-hours coverage for essential systems and services. QUALIFICATIONS Virtualization Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with VMware ESXi/vCenter, Proxmox VE, and RedHat OpenShift. Storage Systems: Deep knowledge of enterprise storage platforms such as Pure Storage and HPE, including performance tuning, replication, and data protection. Cloud Experience: Proficiency with Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS) environments. Application & Desktop Delivery: Familiarity with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, and Citrix NetScaler (ADC). Operating Systems: Proficient in both Windows Server and Linux administration Monitoring: Experience with CheckMK or comparable enterprise monitoring platforms. Experience: Minimum 5 years in a systems engineering role, ideally within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment or Enterprise environment Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions. Ownership: Self-motivated and capable of managing priorities independently while collaborating effectively with team members. Resilience: Thrives under pressure and can maintain focus when addressing urgent or complex technical issues. QUALIFICATIONS Should be willing to accept a long-term work-from-home arrangement.
