Data Governance Specialist

The tasks / responsibilities that the role performs to address requirements in Key Result Areas:
Develop and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
Implement and manage metadata management tools and technologies.
Review, analyze, and maintain data and metadata to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, technology teams, and cross-functional units to understand data requirements and challenges comprehensively, ensuring a unified understanding across all parties.
Collaborate effectively with the data stewards and data custodians to ensure consistent use of data definitions, authorized data sources, and calculations. Additionally, enlists business unit support to take ownership and responsibility for consistent definitions and quality of their data.
Facilitate data governance meetings and working groups to promote awareness, communication, and collaboration across departments.
Provide training and support to data stewards and data custodians on data governance principles, policies, and procedures.
Generate reports and presentations for senior management detailing the status of data governance initiatives.
The Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviors indicating how tasks / responsibilities will be performed:
Strong understanding of data management and governance practices including metadata management, data quality management, master data management
Experience with metadata management platforms/tools, such as data catalog, business glossary, and data dictionary.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy and completeness of data and metadata.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
Experience with Big data, Data warehousing and business intelligence

Job Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in data management and governance practices such as metadata management or data quality management or master data management
Familiarity with data management technologies and tools, including data governance platforms, metadata management systems, data quality tools, and master data management solutions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Background in Big Data and SQL scripting is a plus
