The Civil Engineer as the Cost Engineer prepares and manages the project budget and cost estimates. His/her role involves attending pre-bid meetings, site verifications and inspections, presentation of bid proposals to clients, monitoring project cost against budget, negotiating contracts with vendors, subcontractors and consultants. The Project Engineer manages the project change orders, conduct regular site inspections and prepare progress reports.

Job Description

Prepare tender documents, contracts, bill of quantities and bill of materials, and other necessary documentsMonitor if expenses are within the allocated budget per projectControl all project expenditures based on the approved budget.Update the labor and material costs spent in ongoing projectsForecast the cost of materials needed for various projectsTrack changes in design for budget adjustment and prepare reports on variation ordersProcure subcontractors who can work in the projectMeasure and evaluate work done onsiteSource and select construction materialsPrepare reports and updatesAnalyse and reconcile quantities using Purchase Orders Records to make sure that the budgets amounts and quantities are aligned with the processing and transactions of the operations team and purchasingCollaborates and confers with Designers and Architects on changes and adjustments made on cost estimatesConsult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issuesVisit job sites to gather information and assess the scope of workPrepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling workPrepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.Monthly reporting of project expenditures and preparation of cost control reports Qualifications Cost Control, Cost Management, and Cost Engineering skills, skilled on detailed estimation of Civil/Architecture and MEPFSDetail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in quantity calculations and cost analysisProficient analytical skills with ability to accurately interpret technical documents, drawings and specificationsWith good time management skills and organizational skillsWith strong negotiation skills with experience dealing with vendors and subcontractors. Prudent, with strong foresight and budgeting skillsExperience in a construction or engineering industryExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively with other departments and teamsWilling to travel outside Metro Manila Key Competencies Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related fieldWith at least 3 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor and Project Engineer in construction industry with strong understanding of construction methodologies, regulations, tools and best practicesWith experience in cost analysis and auditExpertise in using Microsoft ExcelWith knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD.
