START DATE: August 2024 or earlier

A family in Palo Alto is seeking a kind, engaging Nanny for their two children, ages 3 (girl) and 5 (boy) years old. Their son attends school in Cupertino and his younger sister will be joining him there in the Fall. Responsibilities will include childcare, driving to/from school, tidying, and additional family assistant tasks if working full time. Their children are inquisitive, and it's important for them to find someone who is eager to converse with the children and help them learn about the world; the ideal candidate also has an educational background and can assist the children with homework as they grow. Both parents work full-time so dependability and ability to work independently are important. This is a great opportunity for someone seeking their "forever family", as they are hoping this person will be with them for many years.

SCHEDULE:

Option 1: The family's first preference is a split shift Monday to Friday 7:30-9:30 a.m. and approximately 1/1:30p-6 p.m. with availability to work full days as needed when the kids are home from school. The family can also provide the option of additional hours (daytime, evening, or weekend) if the candidate is seeking 40 hours/week.

Option 2: Alternatively, they are open to a full-day 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with the addition of meal prep/cooking for the family, family laundry, light housekeeping, errands, and ad hoc tasks.

Experience Requirements
  • 2 years minimum experience working as a Nanny/Family Assistant with excellent verifiable references
Educational Requirements
  • Fluency in English
  • Educational background / degree preferred
Qualifications
  • COVID-vaccinated
  • CPR Certified
  • TB and Tdap vaccine
  • Valid driver with clean record (family can provide household car for work-related use or will reimburse for gas/mileage if using own vehicle)
  • Kind, gentle demeanor (doesn't yell or defer to extreme discipline)
  • Curious, energetic and engaging; genuinely enjoys conversing with children and helping them understand the world
  • Sociable, willing to be part of the family's community
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Can make a long term commitment; ideally it's a "forever fit" for next 10+ years
  • Non-smoker
  • If working the split schedule, ideally has flexibility to work full days when the children are home from school (sick, school closures, in between summer camps, etc.)
Responsibilities
  • Help children get dressed and out the door in the mornings
  • Driving to/from school and activities
  • Planning engaging after-school activities
  • Packing lunch for the next day
  • Hosting a play date 1-2 times per week
  • Light tidying
