Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Benefits Manager, the person in this role facilitates strong cross-functional collaboration between the benefits business function, the Management Information Systems (MIS) group and external vendors to help ensure data sharing, technical trouble-shooting and reporting needs are effectively met. The person is well versed in Workday Benefits and has experience working with business users and technical teams to find solutions. As an integral part of the Five Star benefits team, this role also provides general customer service to employees and Five Star communities to ensure timely and accurate resolution of a variety of employee and vendor related questions, and overall efficient plan administration.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the MIS group and external consultants, work to understand and translate business requirements into system solutions.
  • In close partnership with the technical team, help coordinate end user testing efforts and documentation of Workday benefits users to support rollout of new system configuration and changes.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal users on Workday end user functionality.
  • Identify, monitor and document a wide variety of Workday benefits configuration and set-up issues that require resolution in collaboration with internal and external technical partners.
  • Proactively identify process opportunities and enhancements to ensure efficient and compliant benefits administration.
  • Run various reports to identify any benefits-related data integrity issues that require clean-up or resolution.
  • Work closely with Workday administrative users to understand technical related or systems performance issues and serves as a liaison to the Five Star MIS team on a plan to drive resolution.
  • Support reporting needs of the benefits team and internal customers by gathering requirements and developing workday reports independently or with support from MIS for more complex data needs.
  • Ensure all system-related benefit changes and configurations are fully vetted with key internal stakeholders and put through appropriate approval channels before implementation.
  • Monitor weekly data/file feeds to ensure successful transmission and timely resolution of errors.
  • Monitor the Star Support queue and provide customer-oriented and responsive service to Five Star's internal HR partners and team members to address a wide variety of benefits related questions including but not limited to plan design, eligibility, and claims-related issues.
  • Research and investigate issues and provide recommendations on solutions, while appropriately escalating more complex or unresolved benefits issues to ensure resolution.
  • Provide timely and accurate benefit related reports to internal customers on defined cadence to support various business functions.
  • Process file feeds and review error reports to ensure vendor integrations run effectively and document issues in processes.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations.
  • Brainstorm and collaborate with the benefits team regarding innovative and new ideas regarding the employee benefits program at Five Star.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to drive efficiencies across benefits administration, processes and employee communications.
  • Provide back-up to other Benefit Specialists.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Understanding of employee benefit administration, compliance support and service.
  • Prior experience with Workday Benefits including set-up, troubleshooting, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to combine and manipulate large data sets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with a variety of internal customers.
  • Expert attention to detail.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work cross-functionally to drive resolution of issues.
  • Familiarity with pertinent federal and state regulations affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125.
