WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a like-minded, like-hearted Impact and Sustainability Director who is passionate about advancing the Kingdom of God and serving off-grid communities nationwide by bringing renewable solutions for their development.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Impact and Sustainability Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company's sustainability initiatives and social impact strategies. He or she will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure sustainability is integrated into all aspects of the business and align with corporate goals.

The Director will also measure and communicate our quantitative and qualitative impact while driving additional impact across all sustainability scopes.

Strategic Planning and Implementation:

  • Build the Impact Programs team and provide clarity on strategies, processes, results/KPIs, and culture.
  • Set measurable goals and KPIs for sustainability and social impact initiatives.
  • Responsible for the overall project management of Impact-Related events on Pillar Days, i.e., Impact Day (on company anniversary) and Impact Awards (around the MCPI annual meeting).
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with the company's mission and values.
  • In conjunction with the SVF programs team, will take overall project responsibility for the annual Solar Village Support Network conference.
  • Aligning with the company on time allocation, team budgets, and deliverables for each organization.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Leading the development of the Hybrid Impact Network including managing partner relationships across both.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, to integrate sustainability into business operations.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to promote sustainable practices.

Social Impact:

  • Develop and manage programs that support community development, employee well-being, and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
  • Measure and report on the social impact of the company's operations and initiatives.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Track and update the company's quantitative and qualitative impact and prepare Impact Reports for key stakeholders (e.g., investors, donors, MFI partners, NGO partners, and technical partners). This includes the maintenance of key impact databases and materials (e.g., sales impact database, StoryStellar database, CSR programs) for marketing use.
  • Communicate the company's sustainability achievements and goals through various channels, including the annual sustainability report.
  • Ensure transparency and accuracy in all sustainability reporting.

Innovation and Best Practices:

  • Stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in sustainability and social impact.
  • Drive innovation in sustainability practices and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Benchmark against industry leaders to ensure the company remains at the forefront of sustainability efforts.

We're looking for candidate with the following competencies:

  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
  • Passionate about sustainability and committed to driving social change.
  • Passionate about impact-driven actions within an organization Has knowledge of financial planning, including budget development
  • Has experience in developing and presenting sustainable business concepts, training, and emerging technologies
  • Has extensive knowledge of local, regional, and national emerging sustainable business strategies, ROI analysis, and other key sustainability tools and techniques
  • Has the ability to analyze data, evaluate outcomes, and recommend actions
  • Has organizational skills, time management skills, project management experience, and priority setting skills
  • Has experience in change management and continuous quality improvement
  • Understands cost-benefit analysis in the selection of sustainable business strategies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Development Studies, Economics, or any social Science;
  • A master's degree in sustainability, environmental sciences, or a related field would be an advantage
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sustainability, corporate social responsibility, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability strategies.
