GENERAL FUNCTIONS

The Financial Reporting Assistant Manager directly manages the daily operations of the Company with the objective of ensuring processes are in place and transactions are compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements. The role supports the Head, Financial Ops & Reporting in supervising, directing, and driving the overall operations of the Finance Department, including managing the financial statement closing processes.

In addition, the role assists the management accounting team in financial planning and analysis in liaising across the business units, on all finance, accounting, tax and statutory matters. The role is also responsible for preparing finance policies and keeping them aligned and on track with the companys processes.

The role handles accounting staff and/or payable analysts in the performance of their functions.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the day-to-day transaction of the company.
  • Handles the performance of accounting staff and payable analysts.
  • Responsible for managing and overseeing timely and accurate month end closing process, reporting and variance analysis.
  • Ensure proper revenue and expense recognition.
  • Ensure proper asset capitalization and amortization.
  • Ensure all Statutory report, Audit and Tax requirements are properly met, addressed on time and compliant.
  • Draft, modify and implement accounting and control policies.
  • Monitor cash settlement and related taxation matters and report on irregularities.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis team, budget owners and other teams to provide support on the company strategic planning process.
  • Support Finance team in developing and managing cost-center and platform level P&L, analytics of capital and OPEX expenditure and budget utilization.
  • Manage finance and accounting matters, the preparation of annual audited accounts and coordination with Tax, Legal, Compliance on any such matters.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of company financial books, records and reports, implementation of proper internal controls and any tool / financial database to support management of financial view.
  • Support Head of Controllership to hold regular finance governance meetings with BUs, resolve and tackle any BUs statutory and compliance requirements relating to strategy and provide any external audit relating support to BUs

COMPETENCIES:

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, taxation, and cost control procedures. Knowledgeable in Statutory Financial report preparation.
  • Knowledgeable in local tax statutory compliance and Insurance Accounting

SKILLS

  • Strong business acumen (life insurance and asset management businesses) Strong analytical skills and attention to details.
  • Good customer service, organized, result and detail-oriented, self-motivated, analytical and can perform independently.
  • Good team player, positive attitude and can work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong at effectively handling multiple priorities under time and delivery pressures.
  • Good communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Proactive and resilient.
  • Flexibility in learning new topics, handling change and deadlines.
  • Frequent communication with internal customers including senior management, sales, operation and other cross department internal customers for collaboration and coordination to achieve business goals.
  • Communications with the auditors, tax consultants, taxation authorities, Insurance Commission and other regulators are also required for statutory audit and tax filing, as appropriate.

OTHER RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accountancy, CPA is a must.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in General, Audit & Tax, with Accounting Managerial experience, at least with 3 years in working experience relevant to insurance, banking, or audit industry, and with proven track record in leading a finance team.
  • With SAP / Oracle user experience is an advantage
  • With excellent knowledge of accounting ERP for systems implementations is an advantage.
  • Preferably with good working knowledge of various accounting principles, local GAAPs, and IFRS 4, 9 and 15 and practices in the insurance industry.
