Job Summary:

The Country ES&HS Leader will oversee the development, implementation, and management of environmental, safety, and health programs for solar and biomass operations in the Philippines. This role ensures compliance with local and corporate ES&HS regulations and standards, fosters a culture of safety and sustainability, and promotes continuous improvement in environmental and safety performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development and Implementation:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive ES&HS programs tailored to the unique needs of solar and biomass operations.
    • Ensure alignment with local regulations, company policies, and corporate standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Monitor and interpret ES&HS regulations and standards relevant to solar and biomass operations.
    • Ensure operations comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Risk Management:
    • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses specific to solar and biomass facilities.
    • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Training and Development:
    • Develop and deliver ES&HS training programs for employees and contractors.
    • Promote awareness and understanding of ES&HS policies and procedures.
  • Incident Management:
    • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses for ES&HS-related incidents.
    • Develop corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance ES&HS performance.
    • Track and analyze ES&HS metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, local communities, and industry groups.
    • Represent the company in ES&HS matters at local, regional, and national levels.
  • Sustainability Initiatives:
    • Promote and implement sustainability initiatives within solar and biomass operations.
    • Ensure environmental stewardship and resource conservation practices are integrated into operations.
  • Team Leadership and Management:
    • Lead a team of ES&HS managers and coordinators, providing guidance and support.
    • Assign and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the ES&HS team.
    • Conduct regular site visits and prepare detailed site inspection reports.
    • Analyze trends in ES&HS performance and develop programs specific to findings.
  • Collaboration and Leadership:
    • Collaborate with the country management team on ES&HS committee meetings.
    • Provide leadership and assistance in ES&HS matters to the country management team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH) are preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in ES&HS roles, with a focus on renewable energy operations (solar and biomass) with experience in managing team.
  • In-depth knowledge of local and international ES&HS regulations and standards applicable to solar and biomass operations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
  • High level of integrity, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to ES&HS management.
