WPPI has an opportunity for a talented Electrical Engineer – Renewable Energy to join our company.

 

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

 

Design and Engineering:Develop detailed and comprehensive electrical system designs for PV power generation projects. This includes sizing, selection, and evaluation of equipment such as PV panels, inverters, mounting systems, cables, and associated electrical systems (e.g., transformers, LV/MV switchgears) with careful attention to cost, efficiency, maintenance, and operational factors.

 

Carry out data analysis on electrical and project-specific data to support informed decision-making.Conduct on-site surveys and inspections to support design work and to identify potential challenges during the construction/installation phase, while performing on-site troubleshooting and root-cause analysis during the operation phase.Support the Business Development Team in meetings with clients and stakeholders to clarify design elements and align expectations.Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to finalize project specifications, optimize project outcomes, and ensure alignment with project goals and requirements.Prepare and submit documentation for regulatory approvals and to obtain permits, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations for on-time completion of projects.

 

Project Execution and Supervision:Supervise on-site installation and commissioning of projects, including contractor management, ensuring all activities comply to the approved designs, timeline and safety standards while following industry best practices.

 

Facilitate effective communication between the project team, clients, contractor, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and manage client expectations.Conduct regular inspections to ensure workmanship and contractor performance meets or exceed quality requirements.Prepare regular progress reports and update the Project Manager and clients on project status.Address any issues that arise during project execution to prevent delays or deviations from the project plan.

 

Competences & Capabilities

The candidate would possess the following capabilities and qualifications:

 

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on Power Systems.Experience: Minimum 3 years in electrical and PV power generation project design, coordination, and management.Technical Skills:Proficient in design software (AutoCAD, PVsyst, PVSOL) and MS Office Suite.Certification in AutoCAD is a plus.Knowledge of local and international standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC) for electrical design and installations.Operating Skills:Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.Capable of working independently and as part of a team.Effective communication skills in English, including technical report writing.Other Requirements:Valid driving license preferred.Willingness to travel frequently domestically and occasionally internationally for projects and client meetings.
