Network Engineer

 

Job Summary:

The Network Engineer will be a part of the IT Networks Team in supporting and managing Probe’s enterprise global network. They are expected to participate in projects from time to time for optimization, expansion, availability and reliability improvement. He/she will be a member of a fast paced environment which offers tremendous opportunities to grow their skills and develop professionally.

 

Main Responsibilities: 

Management and support of Probe’s global enterprise networkInitiate, scope and lead network changes required for corrective and reactive maintenanceAbility to clearly highlight risks associated with network changes and identify steps to mitigate those risksParticipate in an after hours on-call roster for supporting faults and any other critical business requirementsParticipate in weekly team meetings and contribute to overall team learningsEscalation point for NOC/Service Desk/EUC, other junior engineers in the network team and ability to manage network related incidents end-to-endRaise faults with third party providers and pursue through to resolutionSchedule and execute quarterly patch management of network devicesParticipate in reviewing and approval of proposed network designs, ensuring they align to Probe’s strategic direction, network standardsEnsure systems and network security is maintained as defined by Probe Security Policies issued from time to timeRequired to meet Customer and Business deadlines and be accountable and take ownershipComply with and execute other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by managementEnsure you do not discriminate against, harass or bully co-workers, prospective co-workers, Probe sub-contractors, visitors, clients or customers and ensure you treat people with fairness and respect in the performance of your duties.Ensure all Probe policies, including Business Management System and Security policies and procedures are adhered to.Ensure Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to. 

 

Key Skills and Personality Traits:

Solid experience in enterprise routing and switchingSolid working knowledge of network protocols comprising of TCP/IP, BGP, OSFP, HSRP and IPSECSolid network troubleshooting, consulting, design and implementation skillsKnowledge around Security (Firewalls). Experience preferredSound knowledge of Security technical protocols, policies and process (VPN’s, ACL’s, IPSEC)Experience working with carriers will be highly regardedProven project coordination skillsAbility to resolve problems professionally and systematically in highly stressful environmentsAbility to document solutions, systems and changesAbility to plan and prioritize own workload according to the business requirements 

 

Qualifications and Typical Experience:

4 to 5 years of experience working as a Network EngineerBachelors or Masters in IT/Networking/Telecommunications EngineeringExperience in a multi-vendor environmentExperience with zscaler and SDWAN (ZIA/ZPA) highly regardedAWS certifications are highly regarded

 

Special Circumstances: 

As this role is integral to the operational management of Probe customers with the core operating hours are between 6am and 6pm Mon – Fri, however with some customers operating 24x7. It is expected that the incumbent will be required to be work after-hours to deliver against project timelinesInterstate/International travel for support or installations
