Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical
Operational Cost Analyst
to join our team. This role is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and root-causing variances in costs and prices across the site. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, be comfortable working independently, and collaborate effectively across departments such as Operations, Procurement, Engineering, and Sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and monitor product and service cost structures to identify and explain cost and price variances.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on material, labor, overhead, and other cost deviations.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to investigate drivers of cost changes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support standard cost updates and cost roll processes.
  • Collaborate with finance, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure cost accuracy and transparency.
  • Provide cost and margin analysis to support pricing decisions and profitability initiatives.
  • Prepare regular reporting and dashboards highlighting cost trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Continuously evaluate costing processes and recommend improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (required).
  • 2+ years of experience in cost analysis, financial planning, or a related finance role.
  • Experience in a contract manufacturing or operations environment is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and variance analysis.
  • Proficient in Excel and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across departments.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of standard costing and inventory valuation methodologies.
  • CPA, CMA, or working toward a finance-related certification is a plus.
