1) Minimum Requirement for qualified personnel for a Bosun/Supervisor:

a) At least a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT); with minimum of 3 years sailing experience as a deck rating in the domestic trade; and with safety training certificates and/or basic fire-fighting certificate (STCW BT) OR

b) At least graduate of Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering; with minimum of 2 years ship repair/shipbuilding experience focused on hull/structural department as project engineer or supervisor

c) Ship repair superintendent or a former ship technical superintendent for three years

d) Preferably with Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH).

e) Preferably with TESDA NC II certification in Welding, Scaffolding Inspection/Erection, Industrial Painting, etc..

f) Trained and worked at heights (scaffold tower stagings, hanging stagings) and knowledge in safe working practices at heights.

g) Trained at steelworks (welding, gas cutting, powertools) and knowledge in safe working practices at heights.

h) Trained in marine painting methodology (ship's hull, internal/external tanks and outfittings).

i) Trained in ship mooring arrangement, mooring plans, and mooring safety.

j) Preferably trained and worked over water (dinghy, paddle boats, etc.)

k) Preferably trained in fire fighting or fire watcher for marine and structural hot works.
