Job Summary

Responsible for purchasing trade and non-trade items from the selection of suppliers, and services to a wide variety of materials, supplies, and equipment. Ensuring the best buy through a proper bidding process.

Functions and Responsibilities

Purchasing

  • Analyze the department budget usage by finding the least cost of possible suppliers and contractors

  • Coordinate written and telephone quotations.

  • Prepare competitive formal bids and requests for approval.

  • Evaluate purchases as such it shall be within the quality and budget provided by the department.

  • Evaluate market price for the department to cope up with pricing demand.

  • Develop proper bidding process.

  • Check item usage by the department.

  • Negotiate with suppliers regarding specifications, prices and delivery.

  • Prepare reports on purchasing activities.

Monitoring

  • Identify which supplies are slow moving, and unusable.

  • Ensure the demand of the department was met by the supplier.

  • Monitor supplier's performance against the policies and procedure of the company.

  • Check frequency of purchases and recommends possible option to increase effectiveness of purchasing power.

Others

  • Coordinate the activities or tasks of people, groups and/or organization(s)

  • Perform other functions as may be assigned by immediate superior from time to time.
