About the role

The Water System Engineer is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of the water supply and distribution system. This role ensures the continuous, safe, and efficient delivery of potable water to customers while meeting regulatory standards and operational targets. The engineer will supervise technical teams, implement preventive maintenance programs, address system issues, and support the execution of water infrastructure projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

· Operations & Maintenance

  • Supervise the daily operation of water supply facilities, including deep wells, pump stations, reservoirs, and distribution networks.
  • Monitor water production, pressure, and flow to ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for mechanical and electrical systems.

· System Monitoring & Improvement

  • Analyze system performance data to identify inefficiencies, leaks, or pressure issues.
  • Recommend and implement operational improvements to reduce Non-Revenue Water (NRW).
  • Recommend and implement operational improvements to reduce production cost.

· Water Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with DOH water quality standards.
  • Coordinate with the laboratory team for regular sampling and testing.
  • Maintain records for regulatory reporting and audits.

· Project Implementation

  • Assist in planning, design, and supervision of water supply expansion and rehabilitation projects.
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, and equipment proposals.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and government agencies for permits and project requirements.

· Team Management & Training

  • Lead and mentor technical staff in operations and maintenance best practices.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure proper use of equipment and tools.

· Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely operational reports, maintenance logs, and project status updates to management.
  • Maintain an updated database of equipment and maintenance records.
  • Maintain, request, and manage an updated inventory of equipment, fittings, appurtenances, spare parts, tools, and consumables.

· Other Duties

  • Perform other related tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the Operations Manager or Management.

What we're looking for

  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in project management within the water infrastructure or construction industry.
  3. Strong knowledge of water systems, including pipelines, treatment plants, and well construction.
  4. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  5. Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD).
  6. Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  7. Detail-oriented, reliable, and proactive.
  8. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
