The IT Staff is responsible for maintaining the integrity of all computer systems and the surrounding infrastructure, ensuring maximum operational efficiency, and providing technical support to all staff members. This role involves both hardware and software maintenance, network troubleshooting, and assistance with technology-related projects.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support and Troubleshooting

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for both hardware and software issues via phone, email, and in-person requests.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems with desktop and laptop computers, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS) and applications, ensuring they are current and secure.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights across various systems (e.g., Active Directory, cloud services).
  • Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN).

System Maintenance and Operations

  • Perform routine system maintenance, including backups, updates, and virus protection deployment.
  • Monitor system performance and perform preventative maintenance to ensure reliable operation.
  • Assist in the deployment, inventory, and lifecycle management of all IT assets.
  • Document all support activities and resolutions in the ticketing system to build a comprehensive knowledge base.

Infrastructure and Security Assistance

  • Assist senior IT personnel with server maintenance, network upgrades, and new system deployments.
  • Adhere to security policies and procedures, including promptly reporting and addressing potential security vulnerabilities.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on the proper use of hardware, software, and IT services.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • With 1-3 years of proven experience in an IT support or help desk role.

Technical Skills

  • Operating Systems: In-depth knowledge of current Windows and/or macOS environments.
  • Hardware: Strong aptitude for diagnosing and repairing computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Networking: Foundational knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Applications: Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 or Google Workspace administration and support.
  • Tools: Experience using a Help Desk Ticketing System (e.g., ServiceNow, Zendesk, Jira).

Soft Skills

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Customer Service: A patient, service-oriented attitude and the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and diagnostic skills with a commitment to detail.

Reporting Structure and Work Environment

  • Reports To: IT Manager or System Administrator
  • Classification: Full-time, Non-exempt
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and move computer equipment up to 50 lbs. and work in various office and server room environments. May require occasional on-call or after-hours support.
