Our client is a fast-growing sleep supplement brand, founded in early 2023 and based in Amsterdam. Their mission is to help people sleep better, recover faster, and feel their best. With rapid growth (100K+ EUR monthly revenue) and new product launches on the horizon, they're scaling their team to meet customer needs and set strong foundations for the future.

About the Role

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will serve as a key strategic partner to the founders, driving financial insight, operational efficiency, and long-term business growth. Your mission is to translate complex financial data into clear strategies that inform decision-making, optimize performance, and strengthen investor confidence. By building models, tracking KPIs, and uncovering actionable insights, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the company's financial health, scalability, and readiness for future expansion.

Responsibilities

1. Financial Planning & Strategy

• Build and maintain a dynamic financial model (3–5 year projection) reflecting revenue, subscription churn, CAC, COGS, OPEX, and headcount assumptions.
• Run scenario planning (e.g., best case, base case, downside) for investor updates or board meetings.
• Develop and track key financial KPIs - especially subscription-related metrics (MRR, LTV, CAC, churn, payback period).
• Support fundraising readiness (data room, investor decks, forecasts, burn rate analysis).
• Advise founders on capital allocation and runway management.

2. Monthly Financial Operations

• Produce monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Conduct variance analysis - compare actuals vs. budget, identify and explain deviations.
• Maintain a rolling 12-month forecast updated monthly.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts (short-term liquidity management).
• Oversee bookkeeping accuracy (reconcile with accounting partner/bookkeeper).

3. Subscription & Revenue Analytics

• Track subscription performance: new subs, churn, cohort retention, lifetime value.
• Monitor CAC trends across paid channels and help assess marketing ROI.
• Model pricing and packaging changes (e.g., impact of a new plan or bundle).
• Support revenue recognition compliance for subscriptions.
• Create subscription health dashboards (MRR growth, churn, retention curve, etc.).

4. Cost Management & Margin Optimization

• Track COGS evolution and identify opportunities for margin improvement.
• Analyze fulfillment, packaging, and logistics costs across 3PLs.
• Support supplier negotiations by providing data on cost efficiency and scaling impact.
• Review marketing spend efficiency (ROAS, blended CAC, contribution margin).
• Advise on cost control measures and scaling OPEX responsibly.

5. Reporting & Insights

• Create monthly executive dashboards summarizing key financial and operating metrics.
• Prepare quarterly board packs (visual summaries of performance vs. plan).
• Provide insight-driven commentary, not just numbers — what's working, what's not, what to do next.
• Build a KPI scorecard for internal use (e.g., cash runway, growth rate, burn multiple, LTV:CAC ratio).

6. Systems & Process Management

• Help implement or optimize financial systems (Xero, Stripe, Shopify, subscription analytics tools like Profitwell, ChartMogul, or Baremetrics).
• Ensure clean data flow between Shopify, Stripe, and accounting software.
• Create standardized financial templates (for forecasting, reporting, etc.).
• Improve internal processes for budgeting, purchase approvals, and spend visibility.

7. Strategic Support

• Benchmark 8hours against industry metrics (e.g., supplement/eCommerce subscription brands).
• Support due diligence requests from investors or lenders.
• Collaborate with marketing and ops to ensure decisions are financially grounded.
• Contribute to go-to-market modeling for new product launches (like Rise or Performance line).

Competencies and Qualifications

Must-Have

• At least 4 years of experience as a Financial Analyst or in a similar FP&A role.
• Prior experience working with a consumer subscription business.
• Efficiently manages multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Approaches challenges with positivity and a solution-oriented mindset.
• Balances strategic insight with precision in execution.

Nice-to-Have

• Prior experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms.
• Knowledgeable with financial systems such as Xero, Stripe, Shopify, and analytics tools (Profitwell, ChartMogul, Baremetrics).
