: Finance Specialist (CPA)

Job Description:

  • Participate in the financial statement closing process, including preparation/processing of journal entries, financial and management reports.
  • Support the preparation of accounts reconciliation schedules and internal information for management, financial controls, and auditors.
  • Contribute to regulatory reporting and payments to relevant government agencies.
  • Assist in supporting Finance initiatives and priorities.
  • Take part in internal controls and internal audit processes.
  • Perform other administrative functions as assigned.

Responsibilities:

1. Financial Accounting and Reporting

  • Specialize in financial statement closing for both group and local reporting purposes, including preparation/processing of journal entries, financial and management reports.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and value-adding financial information required by management, auditors, and regulators.
  • Deliver standard reports and schedules in line with statutory and internal requirements.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation functions, including:
  • Preparation of reconciliation packages in compliance with Accounts Reconciliation Standards.
  • Monitoring and resolving reconciling items to ensure accurate account balances.
  • Coordinating with different business units to address outstanding reconciling items.
  • Identifying control issues and areas for improvement within the reconciliation process.
  • Handle financial statement preparation and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc financial reports for submission to regulators.
  • Ensure timely submission and payment of all regulatory requirements.

2. Internal Controls and Internal Audit

  • Document financial accounting and reporting processes and procedures.
  • Review and update existing guidelines, processes, and procedures to implement improvements.
  • Prepare audit requirements and support internal audit activities.

3. Support for Finance Initiatives

  • Participate in systems implementation, enhancements, automation initiatives, and key projects.
  • Support other Finance-driven initiatives and priorities.

4. Administrative Functions

  • Organize and maintain filing/monitoring of financial and regulatory documents in both hard and electronic copies.
  • Handle inquiries from internal stakeholders, auditors, and regulators related to assigned tasks.
  • Support Finance and other management requirements as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar credentials.
  • Experience in accounts reconciliation.
  • Background in corporate accounting or public practice (preferably from a top audit firm) and/or financial statement preparation for a financial institution.
  • Experience in process improvements and automation is an advantage.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in financial reporting and/or preparation of accounting schedules.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and regulations such as IFRS, PFRS, and local statutory requirements.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with strong listening ability.
  • Advanced analytical, comprehension, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
