Civil Project Manager

Role Description:

Overall responsibility for the management, governance, and reporting of the multiple small to medium civil infrastructure upgrades projects.

The role requires an experienced Civil Engineer with a leadership style that is engaging, receptive, and empowering. The position also requires willingness to be assigned and render services in locations outside Metro Manila or in any part of the Philippines, as may be required by the company.

I. Essential Functions:

• Manages the implementation of civil infrastructure projects by keeping abreast of project status and progress whilst addressing issues as needed.
• Elevates significant issues, with recommendations, to Global Corporate Engineering and the Business Unit (BU) General Manager and/or Executive Director – Philippine sub-region.
• Ensure that the assigned project is planned, designed, coordinated, and executed in such a manner as to meet the business units' (BU) operational requirements and is completed on time and on budget.
• Building and maintaining good working relationships with third-party stakeholders such as Port Authority, other statutory bodies, and port users.
• Continually review project risks (commercial, technical, environmental, social etc.)
• Take all necessary action to maintain project progress in accordance with the agreed programmes.
• Liaise with the supervising consultant to resolve any design related issues.
• Liaise with ICTSI's Contracts Director regarding all potential and actual contractor claims.
• Prepare and maintain the Project Risk Register.
• Carefully manage cashflow.
• Preparing and submitting monthly project reports.
• Escalating critical issues to the Project Steercom.

b. Knowledge and Experience
:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction industry, either with contractors or with consultants
• Past experience working with Chinese contractor would be a plus.
• Suitable experience with the development of medium scale projects in the Philippines.
• General knowledge of and experience with container terminal practices and various modes of operations
• Experience with marine works would be a plus.

c. Professional Qualification and Training
:

• Bachelor's degree (4-year degree) in civil engineering or closely related field.
• Charted status with an engineering institution or association, such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), preferred.

d. Competencies:

• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills; presentations and managing through influence.
• Sound analytical and reasoning skills.
• Significant experience writing effective reports which clearly and concisely describe requirements and / or assessment; reports are easily accessible to the technical and non-technical professional.
• Strong relationship management skills including negotiations and conflict resolution capabilities.
• Managing subordinates and external parties to desired outcomes.
