I. JOB IDENTIFICATION
Job Title : Cashiering Associate

Reports To : Operations Supervisor
Directly Supervises : None
II.JOB PURPOSE
To process payments of customer purchases in the POS terminals and to provide excellent service.
III. ACCOUNTABILITIES
Key Performance Measures
A. Cashiering Efficiency
Enters customer purchases in the POS (Point of Sale) terminals accurately
Checks received currency against counterfeit and refers to superior for proper verification when necessary.
Verifies credit card, charge slips and gift certificates to avoid discrepancies, over and under billing.
Maintains adequate supply of invoices, receipts and other documents required in transaction to avoid customer delay.
Reports immediately to the supervisor discrepancies in price tag and POS reading to avoid customer complaints.
Maintains adequate supply of change fund to expedite check-out of customers
Ensures that exact change fund is given to customers.
Reports immediately any problem in the credit card terminals to refer to concerned bank technician.
Conducts verification of credit card to bank personnel during downtime of credit card terminals.
Conducts cash balancing and reconciliation before leaving scheduled shift.
Ensures that machines/equipment used are properly functioning before any transaction is made.
B. Customer Service
Asks customer for the loyalty card before any transaction be made to ensure that points earned are properly credited to the customer's account.
Answers queries and explains to customers any store marketing promotions.
Advises and informs waiting customers about unexpected malfunction of POS terminal that results in delay of transaction, in proactive, courteous and friendly manner.
Refers customer complaints to customer service or to the immediate superior.
Writes the number of the counter checker, bagging the purchases of the customer to ensure proper accountability in case of pilferage or loss of items.
C. Others
Assists the counter checker in bagging the purchases as the need arises to expedite check-out at the counters.
Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area.
Collects all journals for endorsement to Accounting Department.
Participates in periodic and annual cyclic count of inventory in other department as the need arises.
Performs other related duties as may be assigned either in support of divisional goal attainment or for own personal or professional training, education and development as planned by the superior.

Daily Cash Reconciliation Report
Credit Card Charge Slip
IV. CRITICAL CHALLENGES
Immediate detection of counterfeit money.
Accurate and fast cashiering transaction to shorten customer waiting time.
Knowledge/Awareness of store/product marketing promotions so that customers can be apprised accordingly when they ask about any product sales.
Handling direct customer complaints / concerns in the selling area. Immediately refers the customer to person who can address the problem.
V. DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY
- Day-to-day decisions are referred to higher authority.
VI. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education / Professional Experience
Preferably College graduate (4 year course)
Related work experience preferred or substitute cashiering experience if college undergraduate
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Attentive to details
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations including percentages
Knowledge of basic computer typing
With at least 40 wpm typing skills
With adequate communication skills
Ability to work long hours and can handle pressures
Others
With pleasing personality
Can converse in English
At least 5'2" in height
With neat appearance
