The Managing Editor is responsible for establishing and upholding quality assurance standards in the development of educational materials. By supervising evaluators and editors, the Managing Editor enforces academic and editorial benchmarks, monitors compliance, and secures the timely delivery of high-quality, learner-centered materials that meet institutional and industry standards.

Standards Implementation & Enforcement

·       Implement and contextualize the content quality standards, evaluation frameworks, and validation tools prescribed by the Content Development Manager.

·       Enforce adherence to established departmental SOPs, content guidelines, and validation protocols.

·       Ensure that all the plans in quality measures are properly executed.

Operational Planning & Goal Setting

·       Receive and translate the department's AOP objectives into clear, measurable operational goals for the Substantive Editors and team leads.

·       Set clear directions, daily goals, and performance targets for the Substantive Editors (DEs, CEs, and Les) to maintain productivity and quality compliance.

·       Establish daily work plans, priorities, and performance targets for Substantive Editors (DEs, CEs, and Les).

·       Communicate priorities, deadlines, and expectations to all assigned team members and ensure alignment with project timelines.

Supervision, Coaching, & Quality Oversight

·       Oversee the work of developmental evaluators, content editors, and language editors (both in-house and outsourced).

·       Provide feedback, coaching, and corrective actions to maintain high standards across all content layers.

·       Mentor evaluators and editors in applying quality assurance standards.

·       Supervise the validation of assessments on clarity, flow, and pedagogical effectiveness, recommending improvements to strengthen comprehension and engagement.

·       Coordinate with the Talent Management Office and the Human Resources Department to schedule and facilitate necessary professional development and calibration training for all supervised editorial staff.

Quality Assurance & Issue Resolution

·       Conduct regular audits of submitted outputs and provide actionable feedback to authors and editors.

·       Facilitate daily check-ins and progress monitoring reviews to identify issues early and ensure timely delivery and quality compliance.

·       Oversee the review and validation of learning resources to ensure alignment with curriculum standards, pedagogical principles, and effective teaching practices.

·       Ensure structured evaluations are conducted to guarantee that instructional materials meet established benchmarks for quality, usability, and learner engagement.

·       Use dashboards and tracking tools to monitor productivity, quality metrics, and delivery timelines.

·       Facilitate timely resolutions of content-related issues and adherence to project schedules.

·       Recommend and implement process enhancements to improve content development efficiency.

Stakeholder Coordination & Representation

·       Work closely with internal departments (ADD, BU, PMO, Talent Management Office, Production, CQM) and external partners.

·       Represent the department in cross-functional meetings and curriculum consultations.

·       Promote teamwork, knowledge-sharing, and strong professional relationships with stakeholders.

·       Collaborate with coordinators and stakeholders to resolve quality concerns.
