The above partnership, also named the 'Maharlika Consortium', specializes in the end-to-end development and operation of hybrid microgrids, combining solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and diesel generators with smart power grid technologies. These systems are tailored to the specific needs of island and rural communities — many of which do not have access to electricity. From design and engineering to construction, financing, and long-term operation and maintenance, the Maharlika Consortium delivers resilient, high-performing powerplants.

Archipelago Renewables Corporation (ARC), a Joint Venture Company of the Maharlika Consortium, has multiple opportunities for talented Plant Officers to join our team. The positions will be based at one of the 16 microgrid powerplant locations across Palawan, with 9 sites situated in the northern region and 7 in the southern region. Final site assignments will be defined based on project needs and candidate suitability.

The selected candidate will be stationed full-time at a designated microgrid site and will be part of a wider technical team under the supervision of the General Manager, with technical support from Senior Power Generation and Grid Engineers. As a Plant Officer, the candidate will be responsible for the daily monitoring, operation, and maintenance of the hybrid powerplant, comprising solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and diesel generators, and the grid infrastructure. The role involves hands-on equipment management, coordination with the central operations team, and timely resolution of technical issues to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to the local community. A proactive attitude, strong troubleshooting ability, and sense of ownership are critical, as the Plant Officer acts as the primary operational lead on-site.

This position plays a vital role in delivering essential electricity to underserved communities through hybrid microgrid systems, making it a meaningful and impactful public service. The successful candidate must be willing to provide on-call support and be able to return to site promptly when on standby, particularly in response to urgent operational needs or emergencies. Flexibility, rapid deployment capability, and a strong sense of responsibility are essential, as these microgrids serve as lifelines for the communities they power.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Power Plant and Grid Operation and Maintenance: Oversee daily operations, conduct routine inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance of power plant and grid systems, ensuring safe, efficient functionality and system reliability - including component replacements and implementing necessary system upgrades.
• Monitoring and Coordination: Monitor plant and grid performance, maintaining detailed logs of events and activities. Coordinate with the central operations team and ensure operational alignment for planned activities, and mobilize local personnel or resources to support site-level execution and emergency response efforts.
• Testing and Diagnostic Work: Carry out testing and diagnostic activities as part of routine maintenance and fault investigation to ensure equipment integrity and operational continuity.
• Metering and Service Management: Install and replace energy meters, manage service wire connections, and address consumer metering and billing concerns with accuracy and professionalism.
• Inventory and Resource Management: Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and equipment to ensure availability and minimize operational downtime.
• Compliance and Documentation: Support regulatory compliance efforts by preparing and submitting reports, permits, and other required documentation. Conduct safety audits and ensure adherence to compliance standards.
• 24/7 Standby and Cross-Site Plant Officer Backup: Serve as the alternate Plant Officer and provide 24/7 on-call support for critical issues requiring immediate attention.

Competencies and Capabilities:

The candidate would possess the following capabilities and qualifications:

Education: Preferably a graduate of Electrical Engineering, having a valid professional license is a plus.

Experience: With at least 1-2 years of experience in the electrical engineering field

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in MS Office Suite and relevant AI systems.
• Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and diagrams.
• Knowledgeable in electrical materials and test equipment.

Operating Skills:

• Analytical and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities and practical experience leveraging data analytics and AI for decision-making.
• Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills in English, including technical report writing.

Other Requirements:

• Valid motorcycle or car driving license preferred.
• Willing to travel domestically to support project operations when needed.
