Key duties include scanning items, balancing the cash register at the beginning and end of shifts, processing returns, answering customer questions, and maintaining a clean checkout area to ensure a positive customer experience.

  • Operate POS Systems: Use cash registers or POS systems to scan items and process sales, returns, and exchanges.
  • Handle Payments: Accept cash, credit cards, debit cards, and gift cards, calculate totals, and provide correct change and receipts.
  • Provide Customer Service: Greet customers, answer questions about products or promotions, assist with locating items, and resolve complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Manage Cash: Count cash in the register, ensure adequate change, and reconcile daily transactions with sales data.
  • Maintain Checkout Area: Keep the checkout station clean, organized, and well-stocked.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date on product codes, company return policies, and current promotions for accurate pricing.
