Java Engineer (Cebu, Philippines)

Location:
Cebu, Philippines (On-site)

Work Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

We are seeking a
Java Engineer
to join our operations team in Cebu. This role focuses on maintaining and supporting existing backend systems rather than direct development.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Java backend systems and API services.
  • Read and understand existing development documentation and system architecture.
  • Perform small-scale feature fixes and bug resolution based on requirements.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and configuration adjustments.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to production issues.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development.
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
  • Familiarity with caching technologies (e.g., Redis) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Linux commands and operations.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) is a plus but not required.
  • English or Chinese proficiency required; knowledge of both is preferred.

Nice to Have:

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good teamwork and communication abilities.
  • Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker) is a plus.
