Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our Advisory Technology and/or Data Technology teams. In this role, you will help design and implement high-quality automated tests and test harnesses written in C#/.NET to support a portfolio of internal and client-facing applications.

As an integral member of a global Agile Product Development team, you'll work on delivering scalable, reliable, and high-performing solutions through cutting-edge automated testing strategies that reflect best practices in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop high-quality acceptance tests based on defined criteria and quality standards, aligning with user story value.
  • Maintain and improve a suite of automated tests for daily and continuous execution, ensuring consistent failure reviews.
  • Collaborate with the scrum team to identify automation candidates that support continuous delivery goals.
  • Apply and promote best practices in automation development—emphasizing code modularity, reusability, and maintainability.
  • Advocate for shift-left testing and support a quality-first mindset throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Lead or support knowledge-sharing sessions including brown bags, lunch & learns, and team demos focused on quality practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management with focus on high-value activities.
  • Solid understanding of Agile software development principles and practices.
  • Intermediate experience in API-based automated testing.
  • UI automation experience using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Basic knowledge of application profiling and performance optimization.
  • Basic to intermediate SQL/T-SQL skills; familiarity with query optimization and data testing.
  • Strong foundation in Unit Testing and knowledge of manual testing tools and techniques.
  • Ability to translate manual test cases into automated scripts.
  • Proficiency in C# or a similar programming language and understanding of modern development tools.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):

  • Experience writing test scenarios using Gherkin syntax from functional requirements or user stories.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, XML, CSS, Angular, and relational database design.
  • Experience with tools such as Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), or Azure SQL.
  • Experience in Visual test automation tools like Applitools or BrowserStack.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and test integration using DevOps.
  • Understanding of debugging and telemetry tools such as Azure Application Insights or similar APM platforms.
