The Student Success Specialist plays a key role in supporting student mental health and well-being, with the primary goal of promoting student retention and success. Acting as a liaison between students, the German Languages Team, and the client, the specialist facilitates effective communication and engagement strategies. The role involves providing mental health support through group and individual interventions, requiring strong psychological expertise, discretion, and collaboration with academic and engagement teams. This position is best suited for candidates with a background in psychology, relevant experience, and a commitment to student-centered support.

Essential Functions

  • The specialist serves as a liaison between the client and the German Languages Team to assist
    with improved positive student communication.
  • Distinguishing Career Features, the Student Success Specialist is a mental health and well-being
    subject-matter expert supporting integrated efforts to engage students into positive educational
    experiences.
  • The Student Success Specialist requires a credential and the ability to work cooperatively with
    the acads team, our students, and our client.
  • The Student Success Specialist works as part of our engagement team to identify, facilitate, and
    provide services to small and large groups and individuals as needed.
  • This work requires the application of advanced knowledge in the area of mental health
    diagnosis, intervention, and consultation. The purpose is to work proactively to link initiatives to
    all involved.
  • Any one-on-one case assignments are generally among the most complex in the department,
    requiring considerable judgment and discretion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
  • Excellent understanding of psychology and modern therapy techniques
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to write reports
  • Willingness to work on-site
  • Willingness to regard the goal of student retention
