An Auto Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles to ensure they operate efficiently and safely. This role involves working with various vehicle systems, including engines, brakes, transmissions, electrical components, and suspension systems. The Auto Mechanic must have strong problem-solving skills and mechanical expertise to provide high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities:

Vehicle Inspection & Diagnosis:

  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint problems accurately.
  • Test vehicle performance before and after repairs.

Repair & Maintenance:

  • Perform repairs on engines, brakes, transmissions, suspension, steering, and other vehicle components.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake replacements.
  • Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.

Parts Replacement & Installation:

  • Replace worn-out or damaged vehicle parts, such as filters, belts, and spark plugs.
  • Install new components and test their functionality.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools.

Electrical & Diagnostic Work:

  • Troubleshoot electrical and computerized vehicle systems.
  • Repair or replace wiring, batteries, alternators, and ignition systems.
  • Use diagnostic scanners to analyze error codes and fix issues.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Follow all safety protocols and industry regulations.
  • Keep the workspace clean and organized.
  • Properly dispose of hazardous materials, such as motor oil and batteries.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience as an Auto Mechanic, Automotive Technician, or Service Technician.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of automotive issues.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to handle tools and perform repairs.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Vocational training or certification in automotive repair (preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience as an auto mechanic or technician.
  • Experience with specific brands or types of vehicles is a plus.
