Position Summary

The Inpatient Auditor ensures the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of inpatient coding through retrospective and prospective audits. This role supports revenue integrity, regulatory compliance, and quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct coding audits on inpatient records to assess accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Provide detailed feedback and education to coding staff on audit findings.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement in coding practices.
  • Collaborate with CDI, compliance, and training staff to standardize best practices.
  • Maintain audit documentation and prepare reports for leadership.

Qualifications

  • Certification as CCS, CIC, or equivalent required.
  • 3–5 years of inpatient coding experience with audit experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG assignment, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
