Position: Business Analyst - Finance (Credit Analysis & Loan Monitoring)

Employment Set up: 100% WFH

Employment Status: Independent Contractor

Shift Schedule: US Time Zone / Graveyard Shift

Main Purpose of the Role

To support the underwriting (loan approval) process by analyzing financial data from insurance agencies seeking loans, preparing credit memos, and maintaining ongoing monitoring of existing loans.

Key Responsibilities

1. Credit Analysis (≈80% of the role)

  • Review company financials, tax returns, bank statements, and commission reports.
  • Assess financial health and determine creditworthiness.
  • Prepare detailed credit memos summarizing findings and risk ratings.
  • Communicate with clients to request missing documents or clarifications.

2. Loan Monitoring (≈20% of the role)

  • Track active loans and request updated documents (e.g., annual tax returns).
  • Prepare follow-up monitoring memos summarizing ongoing loan performance.

Requirements and Qualifications

We are seeking an individual with a college degree who demonstrates:

  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Robust analytical capability
  • Strong work ethic with no fear of working on getting the job done
  • Strong working knowledge of the MS Office Suite, especially Excel, and Salesforce
  • Sound business judgment with excellent organizational capability
  • Work independently and balance multiple assignments while meeting deadlines
  • Motivated, curious, detailed oriented, and adaptive to change
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting concepts and the interpretation of financial statements is important.
  • Excited to work in a flexible casual work environment in person or remotely.
  • CPA and or Degree in Finance required
  • Experienced in insurance or financial services environment preferred.

Experience:

  • Relevant experience as Business Analyst, Financial Analyst, Underwriter, or M&A Analyst.
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements and how they interrelate (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Familiarity with loan terms and credit analysis.
  • Clear English communication skills (not necessarily perfect but strong enough for client interaction).

Required Skills & Background

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (required).
  • CPA certification preferred, but not mandatory.
