Staff Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade data solutions. This role will partner closely with architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, secure, and high-quality data systems that align with business objectives.

The successful candidate will:

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, ETL workflows, and cross-functional data models.
  • Collaborate with architects and SMEs to apply architectural patterns and design principles to data solutions.
  • Ensure governance and quality by adhering to SDLC practices, coding/testing standards, and framework compliance.
  • Lead incident resolution for small to medium issues, implement preventive measures, and manage delivery risks.
  • Drive innovation by introducing new technologies, proof-of-concepts, and automation to improve efficiency.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, lead code reviews, and foster a culture of technical excellence.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, simplifying technical concepts and aligning solutions with business needs.
  • Work in Agile teams, actively participating in sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/College Degree in Computer Engineering or a relevant course.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL across relational database systems.

  • Deep understanding of ETL principles and workflows.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python and/or PySpark.
  • Advanced knowledge of Azure cloud services and/or Databricks platform.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure TIC and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.

  • Ability to interpret customer business needs and translate them into operational requirements.

  • Exposure to product domains such as EU360, Tool360, NPD Accessories ML, NPD Power Tools ML, Product Development, and Product Marketing.

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading code reviews.

  • Strong communication skills to engage peers, stakeholders, and leadership.

  • Ability to simplify technical concepts for broader audiences.
