Job Summary
The Patient Coordinator is responsible for guiding and supporting patients—particularly
those with critical or chronic conditions—in accessing medical financial assistance
through government agencies such as the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO)
and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). This role involves
close coordination with hospital personnel, government agencies, patients, and their
families to ensure timely and complete submission of requirements and to monitor
application status.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Assistance and Navigation
- Assist patients and families in understanding the step-by-step process of applying
for PCSO and DSWD medical assistance.
- Explain eligibility criteria and help patients gather, complete, and organize required
documents (e.g., medical abstract, social case study, cost estimate, prescriptions).
Ensure accuracy and completeness of all documentation prior to submission.
Escort or coordinate with patients for submission of requirements to PCSO, DSWD,
or LGU social welfare offices when needed.
Liaison and Coordination
Follow up on the status of submitted applications and keep patients updated.
Establish a working relationship with internal stakeholders (e.g., finance, billing,
pharmacy) to secure cost estimates, official receipts, or other supporting
documents.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain patient files with all documents related to financial aid processing.
Encode data into patient assistance trackers or databases and prepare summary
reports as needed.
- Secure and update an active list of patients who are eligible or in need of financial
aid.
Education and Outreach
Educate patients and families about available government assistance programs.
Conduct or assist in information drives or orientations on medical assistance.
Stay up to date with the latest guidelines and circulars from PCSO, DSWD, and
related programs (e.g., Malasakit, MAIFIP).
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Nursing, Public Health, Community
Development, or any related field.
- Registered Social Worker (RSW) is an advantage but not required.
Experience
A minimum of 1–2 years' experience in healthcare, social services, or government-funded
programs is required.
- Preferably with hands-on experience assisting patients with PCSO/DSWD
funding processes.
Skills and Attributes
Strong knowledge of medical assistance programs and required documentation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English and Filipino).
High emotional intelligence and compassion for low-income and vulnerable
patients.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and comfortable with documentation
systems.
Discreet, organized, and able to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Results-driven, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Other Requirements
Updated NBI clearance and valid government-issued ID.
Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (if required by partner hospitals).
Salary Range
₱18,000 – ₱25,000 monthly (depending on qualifications and experience)
Benefits include government-mandated benefits, transportation allowance for fieldwork,
and opportunities for training and development.
