Job Summary

  • The School Nurse is primarily responsible for ensuring the health and immediate medical treatment of students and personnel

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Applies first aid treatment to students in cases of emergency. For severe cases, brings the patient to the proper medical institution;

  2. Keeps systematic records of all cases treated in the school clinic;

  3. Maintains the file of the medical history of students and school personnel;

  4. Assists the physician and the dentist during check-ups and treatments;

  5. Assists in preparing and implementing health maintenance and development programs for the students and school personnel;

  6. Upgrades herself to the latest trends and procedures in nursing care through ongoing studies, seminars, and workshops;

  7. Disseminates information and the needed instructions on the prevention and cure of prevailing illnesses to students and school personnel;

  8. Informs parents/guardians of students who are advised to go home for reasons of health and other cases needing prompt medical attention;

  9. Submits and follows-up requisition of physician and dentist for new medicine and materials;

  10. Submits annual medical reports and documents to the Department of Health, Department of Education, and other agencies;

  11. Conducts year-end inventory of clinic resources and equipment and submits the same to the Finance Officer;

  12. Requests for supplies;

  13. Facilitates Annual Physical Examination for Faculty and Staff; and

  14. Performs other related functions as may be assigned by superiors from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or any other medical-related courses

  • Passed the Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination / Registered Nurse

  • With Good Moral Character
