Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented In-House Lawyer to join our Legal and Compliance team. The role will focus on providing legal support and advisory services related to labor and employment law, DOLE compliance, immigration, and HR-related legal matters. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of Philippine labor laws and regulations and can work closely with HR, management, and external agencies to ensure full legal compliance and effective risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Legal Advice and Support

  • Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of matters, including labor and employment laws and immigration and expatriate management.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support the firm's business activities and decision-making processes.

B. Regulatory Compliance and Labor Relations

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) requirements, rules and regulations
  • Handle DOLE inspections, audits, reports, and mandatory filings
  • Represent or assist the company in labor disputes, administrative hearings and meditation proceeding before DOLE, NLRC and other law-related bodies
  • Develop and implement labor compliance policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks

C. Immigration and Foreign Employee Management

  • Provide legal support on immigration matters, including visa applications, work permits, AEPs, 9G visas, and other requirements for foreign employees.
  • Liaise with immigration authorities, DOLE, and other government agencies to ensure timely processing and compliance.
  • Monitor changes in immigration laws and advise HR and management accordingly.

D. Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess legal risks associated with the firm's operations and business activities.
  • Provide guidance on risk mitigation strategies and ensure effective risk management practices are in place.

E. Training and Development:

  • Assist in developing and delivering training programs on legal and compliance matters to employees.
  • Stay updated on changes in labor, employment and immigration laws, and other relevant regulations, and communicate these changes to the legal team and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • J.D. or equivalent degree in Law from a recognized institution. Admission to the bar in the Philippines is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a legal role, preferably focusing on labor law, employment law or HR-related legal practice (can be law firm or in-house).
  • Strong working knowledge of DOLE regulations, NLRC procedures, and Philippine immigration laws
  • Good government relations and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of professionalism
