Technical Business Analyst

Overview:

The Technical Business & Systems Analyst is a role serving as the critical bridge between the business requirements of the Fraud and Compliance Unit and the technical execution of IT systems. This role is responsible for driving the successful delivery of new projects while simultaneously ensuring the stability, compliance, and performance of existing operational systems. Core Areas of Responsibility This role spans five key dimensions, covering the full system lifecycle from ideation and implementation (Project) to monitoring and maintenance (Operations).

Business Analysis & Requirements Management

• Elicitation and Scoping: Proactively engage with Fraud investigators, Compliance Officers, Legal, and Audit stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document complex business needs stemming from new regulations, policy changes, or emerging fraud trends.
• Documentation: Translate raw business requirements into clear, unambiguous technical documentation, including User Stories, Functional Specifications, Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), and Use Cases.
• Domain Expertise: Maintain a deep and current understanding of relevant fraud patterns, regulatory frameworks (e.g., AML, KYC, sanctions screening), and internal compliance policies to ensure systems are designed to meet statutory obligations.

System Analysis and Solution Design

• Technical Design: Design and document logical and physical system solutions, including data models, data flows, integration specifications (APIs), and sequence diagrams.
• Feasibility Assessment: Evaluate the technical feasibility of requirements, conducting gap analysis between current system capabilities and desired future states.
• Data Analysis: Utilize advanced SQL and data profiling tools to analyze source data, define data mapping rules, and ensure data lineage meets compliance and audit requirements.
• Architecture Liaison: Work directly with architects and developers to ensure the implemented solution adheres to enterprise standards and is optimized for security and performance within the high-stakes compliance environment.

Project and Delivery Support

• Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact between the business users, technical development teams, and Quality Assurance (QA).
• Testing Support: Define User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategy, assist the business in creating and executing test plans, and manage defect triage activities during system integration and UAT phases.
• Deployment & Handover: Participate in release management planning, assist in creating operational documentation, and facilitate the smooth transition of new or enhanced systems into the production environment.

Operational Support and Maintenance

• Tier 2/3 Incident Management: Investigate and resolve complex production incidents, particularly those related to compliance breaches, false positive/negative fraud alerts, system downtime, and data integrity issues.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Perform detailed RCA for recurring issues, recommending and driving necessary system enhancements or design changes to prevent recurrence.
• System Configuration: Manage system configurations, parameters, and rulesets post-deployment, ensuring all operational changes follow strict change control and audit protocols.

Quality Assurance and Auditing

• Audit Readiness: Ensure all systems and documentation maintain an auditable state, providing necessary artifacts and explanations to internal and external auditors regarding system logic and compliance adherence.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor key system metrics related to compliance reporting timeliness, fraud detection rates, and system stability, escalating deviations as necessary.
