Job Title: Van Salesman Job Summary

A Van Salesman is responsible for selling and delivering products directly to customers using a company van. This role combines salesmanship with logistics, requiring strong interpersonal skills, product knowledge, and efficient route planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and Deliver: Operate a company van to deliver goods to customers across assigned routes.
  • Sales and Promotion: Promote and sell products to existing and new customers, often through direct interaction.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business.
  • Inventory Handling: Load, unload, and manage inventory within the van; conduct regular stock checks.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of sales, deliveries, and customer interactions.
  • Payment Collection: Process cash or credit payments and issue receipts.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure the van is clean, well-maintained, and safe to operate.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor competitor activity and customer feedback to identify new opportunities2.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in marketing is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • 2–5 years of experience in sales, preferably in van or direct sales.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance and safety protocols.
  • Self-motivated and customer-focused attitude3.
