The Project Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for providing essential technical support and project control for our heavy fabrication and MEP-related projects. The core function of this role is to manage all project documentation, ensure design and installation compliance with specifications and standards, and coordinate the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing scope of work from the design phase through to commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Documentation and Control

  2. Generate, review, and manage all project submittals, including technical datasheets, material approvals, drawings, method statements, and close-out documentation.

  3. Maintain a robust, organized, and up-to-date Document Control system for all mechanical and MEP packages, ensuring quick retrieval and compliance with internal and client requirements.
  4. Prepare and track Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries, and transmittals, ensuring timely responses from all parties.

  5. Compile comprehensive Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals and As-Built drawings for project handover.

  6. MEP System Management

  7. Review and verify all MEP (HVAC, fire fighting, plumbing, electrical, etc.) design and shop drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications, international codes, and local authority regulations.

  8. Coordinate with the fabrication/installation team to resolve technical issues and ensure proper interfacing between the mechanical systems and the MEP components.
  9. Perform technical evaluations of vendor and subcontractor proposals for MEP systems and equipment.

  10. Participate in inspections, testing, and commissioning of all mechanical and MEP installations.

  11. Engineering and Technical Support

  12. Provide technical support to the Project Manager, Procurement, and Fabrication teams on all mechanical and MEP-related matters.

  13. Monitor project progress to ensure that work is performed according to the schedule, specifications, and quality standards.
  14. Assist in conducting site surveys and inspections to ensure installed work meets approved standards and specifications.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2 years of relevant experience as a Project Engineer, Technical Engineer, or Document Controller within the heavy engineering, construction, or Oil & Gas industries.
  • Proven expertise in managing MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) documentation and systems for large-scale industrial or commercial projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of international engineering codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, relevant local codes).
  • Exceptional Document Control skills with proficiency in using document management systems.

Desirable

  • Experience with a heavy fabrication and manufacturing environment.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software.
