Buyer/Sr. Buyer

Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite; Office Location: MOA Complex Pasay City

Work Schedule: Dayshift (Monday to Friday, 9AM to 6PM)

About the role:

We are currently assisting our client, a key player in the Shipping/Maritime Transportation industry, in filling Buyer/Senior Buyer and Lead Buyer positions.

In this role, the Buyer/Senior Buyer will be responsible for processing, documenting, and communicating the requisitions submitted by assigned vessels, while ensuring adherence to the policies and SOPs established by the shared services team.

The Lead Buyer, on the other hand, will be responsible for supervising a team of Buyers/Senior Buyers and providing daily support, including coordinating quotations, preparing cost comparisons, and liaising with suppliers.

Buyer/Senior Buyer

Key Qualifications:

• Degree holder of any 4-year course with minimum 1 – 3 years of relevant work experience in procurement, preferably shipping industry.
• With good English speaking skills.
• IT literate for working with advanced procurement systems.
• Good interpersonal & stakeholder management skills with ability to communicate at all levels.
• High stress level, being comfortable handling numerous tasks within limited timeframes in a structured manner with eye for the detail.
• Strong-minded with a robust personality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Check & analyze requisitions based on the requirements of stakeholders.
• Comply with available frame agreements prices pre-selected by the vessel.
• Issue the Purchase Order (PO) with all the required details (i.e. ETB, agent details) once approved (To be confirmed).
• Ensure that supplier issues Order confirmation.
• Follow up on the delivery two days before of ETB.
• Buyer performs day to day purchasing related activities to ensure safe and timely delivery of requisitions ordered by the vessel with due consideration to the criticality of the item.
• Responds to the requisitions raised by vessels in company's purchase module which is Oracle Supply Chain.
• Communicates with Category leads regarding prices and deliveries.
• Achieves the goal of cost efficient, safe & timely operations of vessels in accordance with company policy & procedures.

Lead Buyer

Key Qualifications:

• Degree holder of any 4-year course with minimum 1 – 3 years of relevant work experience in procurement, preferably shipping industry.
• With strong English speaking and written skills.
• Experience in the ship management industry as a Buyer or Senior Buyer is desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and PARIS.
• Supervisory skills and ability to lead a team.
• Strong team player with a positive working attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical responsibilities

• Overall responsible for procurement needs of the assigned pod vessels.
• Responsible for collecting and documenting all technical information from the Pod vessels, workshops, and vendors.
• Follow up on advance payments, make necessary entries in the cost book and liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, vessels agents and the vessel for speedy dispatch in coordination with Technical Superintendent.
• Plan for documents to be delivered on or off vessels.
• Documents housekeeping as per company requirements.
• Assist Buyers (if required) with coordination of quotations, processing of quotations and cost comparisons.
• Responsible for collecting and documenting all technical information from the Pod vessels, workshops, and vendors.

Supervisory and people management responsibilities

• Be a change agent to implement new procedures and processes under SOP's.
• Training the Buyers/Senior Buyers in PARIS and Office 365 as required.
• Responsible for the team of Buyers and the coordination between them.
• Ad hoc duties or projects as assigned by the Superior.
