Job description:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring the efficient and accurate receipt, storage, and distribution of inventory. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills to maintain a safe and productive warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations:
- Oversee all warehouse activities, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory control.
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of all inbound and outbound shipments.
- Manage inventory levels and monitor stock movements to prevent stockouts and overstocking.
- Conduct cycle counts and physical inventories to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Investigate and resolve any inventory discrepancies.
Team Management:
- Supervise and mentor a team of warehouse workers.
- Assign tasks, provide guidance, and monitor team performance.
- Train and develop team members on warehouse procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
- Address employee concerns and resolve any disciplinary issues.
Warehouse Safety & Maintenance:
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment in the warehouse.
- Implement and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and address any safety hazards.
- Maintain warehouse equipment and ensure proper maintenance and repair.
- Investigate and report any accidents or injuries.
Logistics Coordination:
- Coordinate with transportation carriers for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Track shipments and resolve any delivery or transportation issues.
- Optimize warehouse space utilization and improve operational efficiency.
- Implement and improve warehouse processes to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Data Entry & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all warehouse transactions in the warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP system.
- Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as inventory turnover, order fulfillment rates, and warehouse productivity.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in warehouse operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a warehouse environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of warehouse management principles and best practices.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
