Safety Manager — Job Description

Position Summary

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs to ensure a safe workplace and compliance with company policies and government regulations. This role works closely with project teams, supervisors, and management to identify hazards, prevent accidents, and promote a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement site/company safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments.
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
  • Lead incident/accident investigations and prepare detailed reports.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national HSE laws, permits, and standards.
  • Plan and conduct safety orientations, toolbox meetings, and trainings.
  • Monitor use of PPE and ensure workers follow safety rules at all times.
  • Maintain safety logs, documentation, and records.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness and response plans.
  • Work closely with supervisors and engineers to control unsafe acts/conditions.
  • Promote awareness and continuous improvement of safety culture across teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Relevant safety certifications preferred (e.g., OSH, BOSH, COSH — or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3–5 years experience in safety management (construction, industrial, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, risk management, and inspection procedures.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to train and motivate employees at all levels.
