DRAINAGE AND SANITARY ENGINEER

Position Title: Drainage and Sanitary Engineer

Location: Pampanga

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:

The Drainage and Sanitary Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, and management of drainage systems and sanitation infrastructure to ensure effective stormwater management, wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal. This role supports sustainable urban development and environmental protection by delivering projects that minimize flooding risks, safeguard public health, and comply with regulatory standards. The engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and local authorities to implement practical and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop drainage systems including stormwater sewer networks, retention basins, culverts, and flood control structures.

  • Plan and design sanitary sewerage systems, wastewater treatment facilities, septic systems, and related sanitation infrastructure.

  • Conduct site investigations, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, and feasibility studies to assess drainage and sanitation needs.

  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project cost estimates.

  • Ensure designs comply with local, national, and international codes, environmental regulations, and health standards.

  • Monitor construction and installation activities to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality control.

  • Perform field inspections, survey works, and data collection to support project design and execution.

  • Coordinate with government agencies, environmental bodies, contractors, and communities for project approvals and implementation.

  • Develop operation and maintenance plans for drainage and sanitary systems.

  • Conduct risk assessments related to flooding, water contamination, and infrastructure failure.

  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation, reports, and presentations.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies, sustainable practices, and regulatory changes in drainage and sanitary engineering.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Professional license as a Civil Engineer, Sanitary Engineer, or equivalent certification.

  • Minimum of 3–7 years of experience in drainage, stormwater management, and sanitary infrastructure design.

  • Proficiency in engineering design and analysis software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, SWMM, and GIS.

  • Solid understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, wastewater treatment processes, and environmental regulations.

  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Willingness to conduct site visits and fieldwork in varied environments.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Experience with urban flood risk assessment and mitigation strategies.

  • Familiarity with sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS) and green infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of water quality monitoring and environmental impact assessment.

  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and community stakeholders.

Working Conditions:

  • Combination of office work and frequent field inspections or site visits.

  • Exposure to outdoor working environments, including construction and water treatment sites.

  • May require travel to multiple project locations.
