The Senior Programmer is responsible for executing the technical development of system projects, including analysis of specifications, coding, testing, debugging, and deployment. This role ensures that applications and system enhancements are delivered accurately, efficiently, and aligned with business requirements. The Senior Programmer works closely with the Lead Programmer and Business Process Analyst to clarify project details, address technical challenges, and ensure smooth implementation. Senior programmers also provide post-deployment support, performs system enhancements, delivers 2nd-level support for assigned system-related concerns escalated by the IT Help Desk or Operations, and submits regular project updates to the Lead Programmer or the department head.

1. Project Analysis & Planning

  • Review technical and business requirements to identify development needs and constraints.
  • Provide input on feasibility, timelines, and technical solutions.

2. System Development

  • Design user interfaces, database structures, and system logic.
  • Develop, debug, and optimize secure, high-quality code throughout the full development lifecycle.

3. Testing & Deployment

  • Conduct functional and integration testing and resolve identified issues.
  • Assist in system deployment, upgrades, and final approval processes.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain technical documentation and record system updates.
  • Prepare progress reports and development status updates.

5. Coordination & Support

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify workflows and requirements.
  • Provide post-deployment support, system enhancements, bug fixes, and second-level support for escalated system concerns.
