Role Summary

The IT Director is responsible for overseeing technology operations across a multi-campus school network. This role ensures that all IT systems, infrastructure, and platforms are secure, reliable, and aligned with the organization's operational and educational objectives. The position involves leading a geographically dispersed IT team, setting technology priorities, and managing third-party service providers to ensure consistent and high-quality IT support.

Working closely with internal departments such as Systems Operations, Engineering, and School Operations, the IT Manager plays a key role in enabling an effective learning environment through dependable and well-managed technology solutions. Strong leadership capabilities and expertise in Microsoft-based technologies are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
IT Leadership and Direction
  • Develop and drive technology initiatives that support the organization's short- and long-term goals.
  • Supervise and support an IT team operating across multiple sites and time zones.
  • Define team expectations, processes, and performance standards to ensure accountability.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and guidance to help team members grow professionally.
IT Support Operations
  • Manage day-to-day IT support services to ensure issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.
  • Establish and track service performance benchmarks, including response and resolution times.
  • Analyze support trends to reduce recurring issues and improve overall service quality.
Microsoft Environment Management
  • Oversee administration of Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Ensure proper configuration, licensing compliance, and secure access across all Microsoft platforms.
  • Support the IT team in maintaining system health, permissions, and collaboration environments.
Infrastructure and Network Management
  • Maintain stable and secure network connectivity across all school locations.
  • Oversee the design and operation of network components such as firewalls, switches, and wireless systems.
  • Manage IT assets throughout their lifecycle, from acquisition to decommissioning.
Cybersecurity and Compliance
  • Implement and enforce technology security standards, including device security and access management.
  • Ensure adherence to data privacy and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead preparedness activities such as security reviews, risk assessments, and disaster recovery planning.
Vendor and Web Services Oversight
  • Manage hosting services for school websites, ensuring availability, security, and performance.
  • Oversee vendor contracts and service delivery to ensure value and reliability.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to align technology services with organizational needs.

Qualifications
Required Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of experience in IT roles, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Experience leading IT teams across different locations or regions.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Entra, Microsoft 365, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute technology initiatives effectively.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple sites with minimal supervision.
  • Background in managing external vendors and service agreements.
Preferred Credentials
  • Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Azure Administrator, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience supporting IT operations within an educational setting.
