Job Description:

SYSTEMS ANALYST - COBOL

Job Description:

  • Conduct analysis on Business Requirements and prepares program specifications at the systems level for medium to complex systems or modules.

  • Design the appropriate system solution to satisfy the defined business requirements.

  • Develop or maintain, test and implement modules to complex programs according to system specifications.

  • Identify all possible scenarios and prepares tests for the systems under development.

  • Executes test plan during development and system testing and provide user acceptance testing or other testing support as required to ensure that the system processing reflects user requirements / designs.

  • Provides post-implementation and production support for systems including analysis of production problems.

  • Performs implementation activities such as program promotions, installation of the system, training and tutorial for end users.

  • Performs development/update of the User's Manual, Systems Manual and Operations Manual. Provides updates and status reports to the project manager during the course of a development and related support activities

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Understands the business requirements to do the needed code changes based on design specifications provided

  • Develop or maintain, test and implement modules to simple/minor programs according to system specifications. Identify possible scenarios and prepares tests for the systems under development.

  • Executes test plan during development and provide technical support during system testing and user acceptance testing or other testing support as required to ensure that the system processing reflects user requirements / designs

  • Provides post-implementation and production support for systems

  • Performs implementation activities such as program promotions as well as validations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in any IT-related course

  • 5+ years' experience in Cobol/Db2, Unix; programming, analysis & design, with testing experience

  • With background/experience in Insurance (Life and Health) or Financial or Banking/Accounting /IFRS

  • Knowledgeable in Cobol programming, DB2, SQL

  • Competent Systems Analysis and Design skills

  • With foundational knowledge on Systems Development Life Cycles and deliverables

  • With basic systems analysis and design skills to appreciate Technical Specs document

  • Possesses good oral and written communication skills as well as good interpersonal skills, must be very client oriented

  • Must be familiar with Office Automation tools such as MS Office and Lotus Notes, preferably with knowledge in macro programming or report writer tools

  • With high stress tolerance and capable of dealing with all levels of management

  • Must be amenable to hybrid work set-up

  • Must be amenable to work in BGC

  • Shift schedule: either morning or midshift
