Bookkeeping Specialist

The Bookkeeping Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring the integrity of transactions, and preparing financial reports to support business operations. This role involves managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, tax preparation, and compliance monitoring. The specialist works closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure financial accuracy and regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record Management:
- Accurately record all income, expenses, and financial transactions using accounting software.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, correcting discrepancies as needed.
- Prepare and generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
Accounts & Payroll Processing:
- Manage payroll operations, including wage calculations, tax withholdings, and issuing payments.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, tracking invoices, payments, and overdue accounts.
- Maintain positive relationships with vendors and clients, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Bank & Budget Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements with internal records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in tracking company budgets, identifying variances, and recommending adjustments.
Compliance & Audit Support:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company accounting policies.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
Expense & Tax Management:
- Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with accountants to prepare and file tax returns accurately and on time.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial management.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, MYOB, etc) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Prefers someone who has US Bookkeeping experience
