Technical Lead for Rust Security

We are seeking a senior Rust specialist to become the 
founding Technical Lead
 of our new Open- Source Security and Quality Center in Manila. This is a mission-critical, high-autonomy role focused on ensuring the security, stability, and integrity of our entire open-source ecosystem.

As our first technical lead in Manila, you won't just be joining a hub; 
you'll be helping us build it.
 We currently have no office and are ready to find co-working or office space that suits you and your new team.

Technically, we provide a 
WASM runtime
that includes a 
control plane, messaging, and storage layer.
 This framework uses various 
communication protocols
 (like TCP/IP, QUIC, and BLE) and features a 
hardware abstraction layer
 to interface with various peripherals and run on everything from constrained microcontrollers (MCUs) to full OS-based devices. We also provide a 
Web SDK
 and a 
REACT-based Admin Interface
 for developers.

Role Overview

As the Technical Lead for our Open-Source Security and Quality Center, you are the 
technical lighthouse
 for quality in our Manila hub. You will be guarding our core distributed framework—the WASM runtime, control plane, messaging layers, and hardware abstractions. This isn't a typical web backend; it's the hard, systems-level code that makes our entire platform run.

This is a hands-on 
"player-coach"
 role, not a traditional "people manager" (disciplinary leadership and team responsibility are handled by management). You will personally build and lead our Core Quality Team (you, a QA Analyst, and an SDET) by setting the standard for excellence.

Your mandate is two-fold:

1. Proactive Hardening:
    Lead the charge in auditing our core framework code and the open-source libraries we depend on.
2. Reactive Shielding:
    Operate our Critical Response Workflow, acting as the final escalation point for critical community bugs with full authority to deploy hotfixes.

"Guardian"
 who wants to build a fortress, not just another feature.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build the Quality Center:
   Define and lead the processes for automated testing, security auditing, and bug reproduction for our core framework.
• Lead 3rd-Party Security Audits:
   Proactively analyze and audit the open-source (Rust) libraries we use to find vulnerabilities before they affect us.
• Contribute to the "Hardened Pipeline":
   Be a key stakeholder for our CI/CD pipeline (owned by our Chief Architect), guiding your SDET in integrating automated test suites.
• Manage the Critical Response Workflow:
   Triage all incoming community bug reports, assess severity, and lead the technical response to critical (P0/P1) incidents.
• Execute Critical Hotfixes:
   Be authorized and expected to personally implement, test, and deploy immediate hotfixes during PHT hours.
• Mentor the Hub:
   Act as the senior-most Rust expert in Manila, formally responsible for mentoring your team in secure coding, advanced debugging, and Rust best practices.

Key Requirements:

• Deep Rust Expertise (3-5+ years):
   You can read, debug, and write safe, concurrent Rust. You are comfortable diving into any crate or codebase to find the root cause, whether in our WASM runtime, a communication protocol, or a hardware abstraction layer.
• Systems-Level Understanding:
   You have a solid understanding of communication protocols (TCP/IP, BLE, etc.) and system-level architecture. While this is 
  not
   an embedded hardware role, you must be passionate about debugging complex, systems-level code that spans communication frameworks, runtime logic, and hardware abstractions.
• A "Security & Quality" Mindset:
   You have a passion for security. Experience with fuzzing, auditing, SCA, or SAST is a massive advantage.
• Technical Mentorship & Ownership:
   You are a natural mentor who enjoys teaching and leading by example. You have a 'Guardian' mindset—objective, meticulous, and value stability over speed.
• Mastery of Triage & Debugging:
   You have a sixth sense for debugging and can find the root cause from a vague bug report.
• Calm Under Pressure:
   This is a "Reactivity" role. You have the temperament to handle a P0 bug, make a critical decision, and deploy a hotfix correctly.
• Manila-Based:
   This role is based in Manila. You must be willing to help us establish our new physical hub (we will find a space that works for you).
