This is a remote position.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-focused Bookkeeper / Accounts Officer to support our finance and compliance operations across multiple company structures. This role is critical to maintaining financial accuracy, meeting all statutory compliance obligations, and ensuring efficient and transparent financial management.
This is not just a data entry role — we're looking for someone who can understand the operational flow of a complex, fast-moving plumbing and construction business and bring a proactive, hands-on approach to managing the books across our commercial, maintenance, and facilities management entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-Day Bookkeeping: Record and reconcile daily financial transactions across multiple company files (EBA and non-EBA structures).

  • Accounts Reconciliation: Match and reconcile all bank and credit card transactions, supplier accounts, and intercompany transfers.

  • Compliance Management: Ensure accurate and timely lodgement of:

    • Superannuation (incl. Cbus)

    • Incolink

    • Coinvest (Long Service Leave)

    • Payroll Tax

    • BAS and IAS (in conjunction with external accountant)

    • Annual and quarterly reporting for the ATO

  • Payroll Interface (Optional Support Role): Work with the payroll system to assist with reporting compliance (main payroll handled in-house).

  • Profit & Loss / Balance Sheet Reporting: Complete and review monthly P&L and balance sheet reporting across each business entity.

  • Software & Systems Use: Work within our accounting software (e.g. Xero or MYOB), and ensure integration with job costing and timesheet systems is clean and auditable.

  • Maintenance Division Oversight: Ensure correct processing of invoice payments, small job margins, call-out profitability, and tight petty cash reconciliation for our Facilities Maintenance business.



Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years bookkeeping/accounting experience (construction or trade industry preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of EBA structures and industrial compliance in Victoria

  • Demonstrated experience with Coinvest, Incolink, Cbus, and ATO obligations

  • Competence in credit card reconciliation, multi-entity bookkeeping, and GST compliance

  • Ability to liaise with accountants, tax agents, and ATO as needed

  • Excellent attention to detail, reliability, and initiative

  • Familiarity with project-structured businesses and construction workflows

  • Advanced Xero or MYOB knowledge is essential

  • Understanding of payroll systems (e.g. KeyPay, Employment Hero, or similar) is a bonus
