Technical Artist (Philippines)

As a Technical Artist you will utilise your broad range of skills, experience and creativity to bring the vision of our games to life and create high quality experiences for our players.

You will report to the Art Director and collaborate across disciplines (art, design and engineering) to bridge the gap between the technical and artistic aspirations of our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Asset Creation
  • Visual effects and animations using particles, shaders, 2D timelines etc.
  • Unique art assets for games (3D models, materials, textures etc.).
  • Asset Implementation
  • Export and implement art assets in the game engine.
  • Compose and animate UI layouts in the game engine.
  • Innovation
  • Research, propose and implement creative solutions to help achieve challenging gameplay features and optimise production workflow.
  • Stay up to date with the latest asset creation technologies and game engine features.
  • Optimization
  • Review, advise and action wherever there is potential to optimise art assets.
  • Contribute to game performance evaluations and propose improvements.
  • Best Practices
  • Provide guidance and assistance setting up and maintaining projects to ensure optimal workflow (folder structure, naming conventions etc.).
  • Produce and update guidelines for asset creation and workflow processes.
  • Perform audits of art assets in projects at key milestones during production to ensure best practices are being followed.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years working in the games industry in either a technical or artistic role.
  • Strong portfolio of work that demonstrates:
  • Broad range of skills and experience (eg. VFX, animation, custom shaders, scripts etc.).
  • Keen eye for artistic detail and design fidelity.
  • Creative solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Worked on more than one shipped mobile or casual game in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a diverse and dispersed team.
  • A collaborative mindset. Confidence in your own ideas but also the ability to embrace input from others with the goal of achieving the best outcome.
  • High proficiency with the following software:
  • Unity 3D
  • Github
  • Adobe Creative Suite

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with the following types of software:
  • 3D (eg. Blender)
  • 2D Animation tools (eg. Spine)
  • Project management (eg. Jira)
  • Worked on at least one game or app that is currently on the app stores or online.
  • Working remotely with minimal supervision.
