The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of the hotel kitchen and related areas. This role supports the culinary team by ensuring all kitchen equipment, utensils, and workspaces are clean and ready for use, while following hotel safety and sanitation standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesCleaning & Sanitation

  • Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, appliances, utensils, pots, and pans.
  • Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, storage areas, and workstations.
  • Operate dishwashing machines safely and efficiently.
  • Dispose of trash and recyclables, ensuring waste areas are clean and organized.
  • Follow proper hygiene and sanitation procedures as per hotel standards and health regulations.

Kitchen Support

  • Assist chefs and cooks by providing clean equipment and tools promptly.
  • Re-stock kitchen and service stations with clean plates, cutlery, glassware, and utensils.
  • Help with basic kitchen tasks such as peeling or prepping ingredients (if required).
  • Ensure all equipment is stored properly and safely after cleaning.

Inventory & Equipment Care

  • Monitor and report any malfunctioning equipment to supervisors.
  • Handle all cleaning chemicals properly and keep cleaning supplies stocked.
  • Follow preventive maintenance guidelines for dishwashing machines and other equipment.

Safety & Compliance

  • Comply with hotel safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure safe handling of sharp tools, hot surfaces, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Report any safety hazards, accidents, or near-misses immediately.

Qualifications & Skills

  • No formal education required; High School diploma preferred.
  • Previous experience in kitchen stewardship or hotel housekeeping is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of kitchen hygiene and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hot, and physically demanding environment.
  • Team player with good communication and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holiday
