Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture (B.Arch) from an accredited institution is the minimum requirement
  • A Master's Degree (M.Arch) may be preferred for advanced roles or specialization
  • Completion of an internship or apprenticeship under a licensed architect (often part of licensure requirements)
Licensure and Certification
  • Must pass the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) or equivalent in your country
  • Registration with a professional body (e.g., United Architects of the Philippines, NCARB in the U.S.)
  • Certifications in green building (LEED), BIM software, or project management are advantageous
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, and other design software
  • Strong understanding of building codes, zoning laws, and construction standards
  • Ability to create detailed architectural drawings, models, and specifications
Creative and Analytical Abilities
  • Strong design sensibility and ability to conceptualize aesthetically pleasing and functional spaces
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to address spatial, structural, and client-related challenges
  • Ability to balance creativity with practicality and compliance
Communication and Collaboration
  • Effective communication skills for client presentations, team coordination, and documentation
  • Ability to work with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Experience in project management and handling multiple phases of design and construction
Experience and Portfolio
  • 2–5 years of experience in architectural design or related roles (for entry to mid-level positions)
  • A strong portfolio showcasing design projects, technical drawings, and creative solutions
