Job Description:

Prepares and cuts meat into smaller, retail-ready portions for sale, which includes tasks like trimming, deboning, grinding, weighing, and packaging. They are also responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace, managing inventory, preparing displays, and assisting customers with their requests, including advising them on cooking methods.

Key responsibilities

Meat preparation: Cutting, trimming, deboning, and grinding meat from larger wholesale cuts into smaller portions like steaks, chops, and roasts.

Product handling: Weighing, packaging, and pricing meat products for sale, as well as smoking or marinating them.

Display and sales: Arranging meat in display cases to attract customers and preparing custom cuts or special orders.

Customer service: Assisting customers, answering questions, taking special orders, and providing advice on cooking and storage.

Inventory management: Receiving and storing meat, monitoring stock levels, and ordering supplies.

Sanitation and maintenance: Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and the work area to meet health standards, and sharpening knives.

Record-keeping: Keeping records of sales and inventory.
